Welcome to the Denver metropolitan area chapter of ACT for America. Activism at the local level is a powerful way to protect our country from violent jihad. Shortly after the Patriot Act created the Department of Homeland Security, the new director Tom Ridge said that everyone knows their own neighborhood; the normal rhythms of their life and work. When we see anything that isn't normal, we should alert our local law enforcement. That advice is just as true today. Understanding the interlocking relationship of the religion of Islam and the governmental system of Islam, expressed as Sharia Law, is fundamental to understanding the threat of violent jihad to our country. The 5280 Coalition is our effort to spread that understanding in a spirit of love for every person. We know that the vast majority of believers in Islam are not violent. Many of those who do seek to do harm to our country and our people adhere to the most extreme interpretation of the teachings of Mohammed. It is critical that we always maintain that distinction, as it will guide our actions as a group. It is actions that can cause us harm, not thoughts. Please visit the joint venture site Veteran Defenders of America and see what our retired military is doing to continue to serve and to protect our country. As Jihad increases, so do the "honor killings" Mosab Hassan Yousef was born in Ramallah, in the West Bank in 1978. His father, Sheikh Hassan Yousef, is a founding leader of Hamas, internationally recognized as a terrorist organization and responsible for countless suicide bombings and other deadly attacks against Israel. Yousef was an integral part of the movement, for which he was imprisoned several times by the Shin Bet, the Israeli intelligence service. He withstood torture in prison only to discover Hamas was torturing its own people in a relentless search for collaborators. He began to question who his enemies really were— Israel? Hamas? America? After a chance encounter with a British tourist, Yousef started a six-year quest that jeopardized Hamas, endangered his family and threatened his life. He has since embraced the Christian faith and sought political asylum in America. Son of Hamas
